Clifden is the largest town in Connemara Co Galway and is an ideal place to stay when touring the spectacular landscapes of the Connemara region. Clifden itself has many historical sites including Marconi’s Station where the first commercial transatlantic message was transmitted to Nova Scotia, Canada in Oct 1907. While in Clifden you can also visit the monument commemorating the first transatlantic flight by Alcock and Brown.

The town of Clifden is located between the spectacular Twelve Bens and Atlantic Ocean where you can avail of numerous outdoor activities like sea angling, fishing, boating, golf and horse riding on the famous Connemara Ponies.

If you need to relax after a busy day there are many top class restaurants or stroll around the numerous craft shops and boutiques. Clifden is famous for its night time entertainment where you can enjoy traditional Irish music sessions in most of the pubs and hotels.
